Formal speeches are usually delivered in Arabic; their English wording is the rendering of the outlet cited, and is labelled as such.
Normalization, I have said before and it’s quite clear that we believe that normalization is in the interest of the region, that it would bring significant benefits to all. But without finding a pathway to peace for the Palestinian people, without addressing that challenge, any normalization will have limited benefits.
However, we are always open to having a dialogue with our friends, but we don’t respond to pressure. When we do anything, we do it in our own interests.
On Syria, it’s very important that we understand the context. The context is that the status quo was not working and was generating an ever-increasing burden on countries of the region and on the people of Syria.
In the end, the only thing that can deliver a lasting peace and lasting stability is an agreement between the Palestinians and the Israelis... Peace, we see, is a strategic necessity for the region.
Security and stability are not possible without cooperation and coordination between States to prevent an arms race to acquire these destructive weapons.
What we are trying to do is build a coalition aimed at implementing the two-state solution and that needs certain building blocks, including capacity building within the Palestinian authority.
We hope that Iran will cooperate with the international community, in particular, vis-à-vis its nuclear programme and its ballistic missile programme.
The region is witnessing an escalation and continuation of Israeli aggression on Palestine and Lebanon.
I came to Damascus to directly learn from our Syrian brothers about the needs of the Syrian people, and we value the steps taken by the Syrian administration in opening up to all segments of society.
These outcomes reflect comprehensive proposals across political, humanitarian, security, economic, legal, and strategic narrative tracks, and they form an integrated and actionable framework for implementing the two-state solution and achieving peace and security for all.
We call on all other countries to take a similar historic step that will have a great impact on supporting the efforts towards the implementation of the two-State solution, achieve permanent and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, and find a new reality whereby the region can enjoy peace, stability and prosperity.
The time has come to end the repeated failures regarding the Palestinian issue.
